Hotel Presidente has a long history in San Jose. This popular, downtown boutique hotel was originally started by the son of a Jewish immigrant in 1963. Despite several renovations over the years it remains in the same family. The hotel was named after President John F Kennedy who visited Costa Rica in 1963. This popular hotel is located on the main street in the heart of San Jose.

Hotel Presidente offers fantastic value for money in a downtown location just a couple of minutes walk from the museums

It is easy walking distance to the Teatro Nacional, the Central Market, all the museums and conveniences such as banks and shops. The hotel itself is covered on the outside with a multicoloured mural. Inside it is decorated stylishly with pieces of Costa Rican art. The rooms are simple but comfortable and come with everything you need. The best feature of this hotel is it’s fantastic rooftop bar and restaurant called Azoteca Calle 7. The food and cocktails are great and there is also an open air terrace filled with flowers and plants.
