You will be met on arrival by your friendly, English speaking driver who will welcome you to Costa Rica and take you directly to your hotel which is about a 30 minute drive. Afternoon at leisure to relax and explore the beautiful botanical gardens at your hotel or take a dip in the pool.
Today you start your journey south travelling by road to the small mountain village of San Gerardo de Dota. This beautiful and remote area of the country is lesser visited and unspoiled. Check in to your cosy lodge. Afternoon at leisure to explore the surroundings, go bird watching or hiking.
The Resplendent Quetzal is one of the most beautiful birds in the Americas and a large population can be found here in San Gerado de Dota. Go out before breakfast with an expert guide in search of this magnificent bird. Return to the lodge for a hot coffee and hearty breakfast.
After breakfast you will start your exciting journey to your remote eco lodge. You will drive further south for about 4 hours until you reach Golfito. From here you will take a boat across the calm waters of the Golfo Dulce to arrive at your lodge. The boat trip takes about 30 minutes and whales and dolphins can often be seen along the way. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to relax and enjoy this tranquil location before dinner is served in the canopy level restaurant.
During your time at Playa Nicuesa you have included three meals a day, access to several different self guided nature trails, use of kayaks, stand up paddle boards, snorkeling equipment and fishing equipment. A variety of other excursions are also available including yoga, bird watching and more!
Today you set out for an adventure to a remote corner of the rainforest! Travel by road and boat to the La Sirena Ranger station in the heart of Corcovado National Park. Spend the day exploring the many trails accompanied by your professional guide. This is the best area in the park to observe wildlife and particularly the otherwise rarely spotted Tapir which is common to see here. After a day of exploring remote rainforest trails, bed down at the basic ranger station for a true wilderness experience!

Day 9: La Sirena to Casa Corcovado
Awake to the sounds of the rainforest before departing the ranger station by boat and travelling down the Pacific Coast to the Casa Corcovado lodge. After arriving by wet landing on the beach you will be taken up the steep hill in the back of a tractor to the lodge! Lunch is served and the rest of the afternoon is at leisure to relax by the pool or explore the property.
Famously declared by National Geographic as ‘the most biologically intense place on the planet’ Corcovado National Park is last remaining stretch of Pacific lowland rainforest in all of Central America. You will have a full day exploring the trails, waterfalls, wildlife and birdlife of this remote and beautiful corner of Costa Rica, accompanied by professional guides.
Depart the lodge this morning by boat for a spectacular boat ride along the Pacific coast. Disembark at Drake Bay from where you will continue by road for about 45 minutes to your hotel in the hills with a great view of the coast. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or explore the nature trails on the property.
Today your guide will take you on a boat trip for 40 minutes to a deserted tropical island called Caño Blanco in the Pacific ocean. The island is surrounded by a coral reef which is a fantastic spot for snorkeling or scuba diving. It is protected as part of a marine reserve and you can expect to see a variety of tropical fish and even manta rays, white tipped reef sharks and turtles.
Discover the natural beauty of the Marino Ballena national park. The tour starts from Punta Uvita Beach visiting the famous Uvita Whale Tale, Ballena Island, Tres Hermanas Islets and the Ventana Sea Caves. Both Humpback and Pilot whales can be seen in season along with several species of dolphins. You will also go snorkeling to experience a variety of marine wildlife.
Your final day is at leisure to relax or take an additional excursion. Your hotel provides complimentary shuttles to the beach, or you could walk in about 20 minutes. You could also visit a nearby waterfall among other activities.
