Overview

Steeped in mercantile and explorer history Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world located on the island of Tierra del Fuego. Encircled by the Martial Mountains the isolated port city has a colourful past and a charm all of its own. The surrounding area of Tierra del Fuego has a harsh and rugged beauty and is perfect for a variety of adventure activities. Visitors can take excursions to the national park, visit the sea lion and penguin colonies, ride the end of the world train and take boat trips along the infamous Beagle channel.

The southern port city of Ushuaia, gateway to Antarctica, has a fascinating history and a real frontier atmosphere!

Best months to visit Ushuaia & Tierra del Fuego

Weather in Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego is very unpredictable and you will often experience four seasons in a day. The best time to go would be December until March as these are the summer months and many outdoor activities are possible, but the region can be visited any time from September until April. The winter (May until August) is very cold and dark and many hotels and services shut.
