Meaning “lost river” Rio Perdido is a boutique adventure lodge found within Costa Rica’s tropical dry forest in the northwestern province of Guanacaste. Located within its own 660 acre private reserve, the remote lodge is bordered on each side by two deep canyons and connected to the rest of the reserve by a 200ft hanging bridge. Constructed with minimum impact on the pristine surroundings, the 20 luxurious independent bungalows all come with private terraces, hammocks, new generation air conditioning, wifi, an iPod dock, minibar and other amenities.
Located in an idyllic setting, Rio Perdido is one of Costa Rica’s top lodges for adventure activities
Within the reserve there is a river fed by thermal mineral water that is heated naturally by the nearby Miravalle volcano. Several natural pools of varying temperatures have formed that create the perfect spot for bathing. The range of activities on offer is impressive including gentle white water tubing, zip lines, canyoning, a 10 mile mountain bike track, several excellent hikes, waterfalls, hanging bridges, a Tarzan swing and more.
