The Hotel Belmar is one of the oldest and most well established hotels in Monteverde and it is still owned and run by the same family that started the business in 1985. The style of the hotel is inspired by an Austrian chalet and it is made of wood found in the surrounding area. Recipients of a coveted Five Leaf Award for sustainability and only the second hotel in the country to be named carbon neutral, Belmar has strong environmental values. The hotel runs a farm where they grow their own fresh produce which is used in the restaurant for a gourmet farm to table experience.
