The Avenue of the Volcanoes Travel Guide
The Avenue of the Volcanoes is an area that forms a classic route through the centre of Ecuador beginning south of Quito at the Cotopaxi National Park and ending in the quaint colonial city of Cuenca. Along the way you can expect to experience Ecuador’s most dramatic scenery with the towering volcanoes of Cotopaxi and Chimborazo, mountain lakes and patchwork hills dotted with indigenous villages. It is a fantastic area for hiking, horse riding, exploring local markets and staying in traditional haciendas. This journey can also be done by train on board the iconic Tren Crucero.
