Santa Cruz Island Travel Guide
Located in the centre of the archipelago, Santa Cruz is the second largest island in the Galapagos. The island has a long history of human settlement and it’s main coastal city Puerto Ayora is the most populated urban centre in the islands. The interior of the island is dominated by farmland and mist covered highlands where giant tortoises can be seen in the wild. Another popular site is the twin volcanic craters surrounded by scalesia forest. The active Charles Darwin Research Station is also located on Santa Cruz along with a handful of good beaches and other sites.
