El Mercado is one of the newer hotels in Cuzco opening its doors in 2015. Built on the site of a former market around an open air courtyard, this quaint and intelligently designed hotel is just a five minute walk from Cuzco’s historic central plaza. This highly original hotel takes the concept of a market as its guiding theme. Believing that a market is an expression of a town’s culture and traditions, the hotel offers an authentic Peruvian experience.
An excellent little boutique hotel with heaps of character. There is nothing else like it in Cuzco!
The La Taberna restaurant and bar offers traditional market food and tapas with a focus on local produce and at breakfast there is a market stall serving freshly blended fruit juices and smoothies. The rooms are luxuriously appointed with bright interiors and a harmonious mix of classic furniture with contemporary touches. The two suite categories are more spacious, feature a fireplace and come with the added luxury of a bathtub. From some of the rooms there are views of the cathedral across the rooftops to the mountains beyond. End the day around the fire pit in the open air courtyard.
