Start in The Central Valley to experience the world famous rapids on the Pacuare River. Continue to Arenal for hot springs and ATV quad biking before traveling to Rio Perdido, one of the best adventure lodges in the country for white water tubing, canyon adventure and more. Finish on the beach in Guanacaste for kayaking, surfing and snorkeling.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Meet and greet at airport, transfer to hotel

On arrival in San Jose you will be met by your friendly English speaking driver guide who will help you with your luggage and provide you with bottled water. You will be taken by private transfer straight to your hotel just outside of the city (about 30 minutes depending on traffic).

Evening at leisure.

Day 2 - White water rafting on Pacuare river

This morning you will be picked up early from your hotel and taken to the expedition office where you will enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast. After breakfast your professional guides for the day will give you a safety briefing and a short demonstration of how to use the equipment. After this you will embark on a 19 mile trip down the Pacuare River through some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful primary rainforest. You will pass through deep sided gorges, past waterfalls and navigate the famous rapids. There will also be times where you can stop and relax in the natural pools. The whole course takes between 3.5 – 5 hours depending on the water level. Once reaching the take out point a bus will be waiting to transport you back to the office where lunch will be waiting.

Day 3 - Journey to Arenal via La Paz waterfall

After breakfast this morning you will be met at your hotel by your private driver guide to begin your journey to Arenal. The total driving time is about 3 hours but along the way you make a stop at the La Paz waterfall and gardens. There is two miles of nature trails that lead to five different waterfalls amongst lush tropical gardens. Your private guide will lead you along these trails whilst pointing out the different flora and fauna. There is also a butterfly observatory, a hummingbird garden, a frog exhibit and an orchid garden.

After some time at the gardens and some refreshments you will continue to your hotel in Arenal. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to your room. The rest of the afternoon and evening is at leisure.

Day 4 - ATV Quad bike tour

This morning after breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the start of the tour on a private farm. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, you will be lead around a special course with fantastic views of the volcano. You will travel across fields and past rivers and after about an hour will arrive at a crocodile farm where you can see these fascinating creatures. There is time for some refreshments before continuing the journey. Towards the end there is also an opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the river. After the tour you will be returned to your hotel.

Day 5 - Journey to Rio Perdido

After breakfast this morning you will be met at the hotel by your private driver guide and taken by private transfer to Rio Perdido. The transfer takes about 2.5 hours and you can ask your driver to stop at any point along the way for a break or refreshments.

On arrival to Rio Perdido you will be welcomed by the staff and shown to your bungalow. The rest of the afternoon and evening is at leisure.

Day 6 - White water tubing & canyon experience

Today you will take one of the highlight excursions at Rio Perdido, the white water tubing. Start with a safety demonstration by your professional instructors before embarking on a thrilling trip down the river in an inflatable tube. Winding through the canyon the scenery is breathtaking with high walls on either side and strange rock formations. At points the river forms into pools and at other points it turns into faster rapids. The forest above you is full of tropical birds and monkeys can also be seen along the way. This is a unique way to experience a magical and untouched area of Costa Rica. After the tubing experience you return to the lodge for lunch.

The Epic Rio Blanco Canyon Experience

The Rio Perdido canopy canyon adventure is one of the most exciting in Costa Rica with an innovative course spread across the Rio Blanco canyon. It includes a total of 15 platforms, some built into the rock and others hanging from the canyon walls. After a safety demonstration you will start the course, guided by professional instructors. The course includes 5 zip lines the longest of which is 800ft, a 90ft challenge bridge, a Tarzan swing for the more daring, a pendulum cable and other surprises including elements of rock climbing and abseiling.

Day 7 - Free day at Rio Perdido

Today is a free day to take advantage of the natural thermal springs in your hotel, go on some of the self guided hiking trails, go to the 10 mile mountain bike park, or unwind with a spa treatment.

Day 8 - Journey to the Pacific Coast

This morning after breakfast you will be met at your hotel by your private driver guide and taken by private transfer to your hotel just outside Tamarindo on the Guanacaste coast. The drive takes about 2 hours 15 minutes.

On arrival you will be greeted and taken to your room.

The rest of the afternoon and evening is at leisure.

Day 9 - Learn to surf like a pro!

This morning after breakfast you will be met at your hotel by your professional English speaking surfing instructor and taken to the beach for a surfing lesson. The warm water and long sandy beaches make Tamarindo the perfect location for beginner surfers. The class starts with an introductory session on the beach where your instructor will teach you the basic technique before moving into the water to practice your skills. After the tour you will be returned to your hotel.

Day 10 - Ocean kayaking and snorkeling

This morning after breakfast you will be met at your hotel by your watersports guide and taken to Tamarindo beach for the start of the excursion. After a brief safety demonstration you will begin kayaking along the coast on the calm waters of Tamarindo towards Capitán island. Once you have arrived at the island you will have the opportunity to snorkel the coral reef where you can see many types of exotic fish and marine wildlife. Your guide will show you the best spots and teach you about the coral reef system. After some time here you will return to Tamarindo and be dropped back at your hotel.

Day 11 - Free day at leisure on the beach

Your final day is a free day to relax on the beach, enjoy the comforts of your luxury hotel, have a spa treatment, or take an additional excursion.

Day 12 - Transfer to the airport for departure

Check-out and private transfer from your hotel to the airport (about 3.5 hours) for your return international flight.
