How it all got started - This is our story

It all began way back in 1997 in China… Let us explain! Our director, Chris, ended up somewhat by accident with a job organising tours in China and on the Trans-Siberian railway. When he finally returned to the UK 11 years later he set up his own company based in London called Headseast Ltd better known as The China Travel Company, The Trans-Siberian Travel Company & The Luxury Train Travel Company.

Whilst Chris travelled east his younger brother, John, went west, backpacking around Latin America and brushing up on his Spanish! He was so taken with the continent that he went on to study Latin American Studies at university. After spending some time living in Buenos Aires and then working in the travel industry, he decided to take the plunge and join up with his brother. Thus, The Latin America Travel Company was born!

We remain a relatively small, independent and family run company. We are specialists in the destinations we offer with in-depth, first hand knowledge built up over years of experience. In fact, we have personally visited and stayed at hundreds of hotels across Latin America – it’s a tough job you know, but somebody has to do it!

In all seriousness, we do this because we love it and we get a huge amount of satisfaction from organising trips of a lifetime for our clients. Our ultimate goal is to create authentic, thought provoking, memorable and ethically operated trips for anybody who wants to get under the skin of the countries and cultures they are visiting. All our trips are tailor made which means you can tweak and refine your itinerary until it’s right for you. We’ll also use our first hand knowledge and expertise to make useful recommendations.


When your itinerary is finalised you pay a deposit to secure your trip with the balance due 60 days before departure. We also create a personalised trip guidebook, tailored to your trip.
