Arenal Observatory Lodge β Arenal β Costa Rica
The Arenal Observatory Lodge is a historic property that started life in 1987 as a research station for the Smithsonian institute, hosting scientists who came to study the volcano. It is the only hotel located inside the Arenal Volcano national park and it is just 1.7 miles from the south side of the volcano. The huge volcano is visible from almost everywhere on the property, but the best views are from the large observation sun deck.
βThis secluded lodge is the closest property to the volcano and the lake, situated in an extraordinary location surrounded by lush primary rainforest.β
The lodge sits within its own 870 acre reserve made up of rivers, waterfalls, primary rainforest and tropical gardens. There are over 7 miles of nature trails for you to explore and complimentary daily walks. You can horse ride and mountain bike here and more than 500 species of birds have been spotted on the property. An onsite museum charts the history of the Arenal volcano and there is an additional observation tower called βthe nestβ. Other facilities include a swimming pool, jacuzzi, spa, restaurant and a selection of comfortable accommodations.
