Casa Turire ● Pacuare ● Costa Rica
Casa Turire is located in a coffee, macadamia and sugar plantation on the shores of a small lake in the mountainous region of Turriabla. This traditional colonial house has just 16 rooms and acres of beautifully maintained gardens and nature trails. Rooms are decorated in a slightly old fashioned but traditional style with stucco walls, wooden floors, timber furniture and floral bed linen. Every room comes with a private balcony, private bathroom and all the modern amenities.
"Casa Turire is a traditional plantation style hotel with lovely gardens, a fantastic restaurant and great views of the surrounding countryside."
There are acres of nature trails for the guests to explore or they can take a tour of the extensive grounds by horse drawn carriage. Bikes and kayaks are also available to rent and can be taken out on the lake from the hotel’s own deck. The restaurant is well known as one of the best in the area and focuses on local ingredients and traditional dishes. The homemade sugar cane ice cream is particularly good! Other activities such as visits to the Turrialba and Irazú volcanoes, canyoneering, rafting, visits to botanical gardens and birdwatching can be arranged.
