Hacienda San Agustin De Callo ● Cotopaxi ● Ecuador
Hacienda San Agustin de Callo is a traditional family run hacienda located just over an hour south of Quito in the foothills of the Andes mountains near to the villages of Saquisili and Latacunga. It is built on the site of a 15th century Inca palace that has also served as an Augustinian convent and a private home where it has received a long list of illustrious guests. In 1921 the hacienda was purchased by General Gutierrez and has remained in the same family ever since. The colourful family history includes politicians, amateur bull fighters and ex presidents!
“From the Inca walls to the fascinating family history of the owners, Hacienda San Agustin de Callo has a strong connection to its past.”
There are 15 cosy rooms in total spread across three separate buildings. Each room is decorated in a different way with exposed brick walls, locally woven textiles, wooden beams, murals and fireplaces.
