Hotel Bougainvillea is located in Heredia province in a quiet area just a 30 minute drive from the San Jose international airport. The hotel’s best feature is the award winning 10 acre tropical garden that is home to a wide variety of exotic plants and flowers such as orchids, bromeliads and bougainvillea. Hummingbirds, boat billed flycatchers, tropical kingbirds and the blue crowned motmot are just a few of the colourful birds that can be easily spotted in the gardens.

The rooms are fairly plain but come with all the modern amenities and views of either the Central Valley and surrounding mountains or the gardens. Other facilities within the extensive grounds include tennis courts, a swimming pool, gym and a mini spa. The Vitrales restaurant and bar faces the gardens and features a fireplace for cosy evening dining. The hotel also displays an interesting collection of Costa Rican art and sculpture throughout the property.
