In the indigenous Tehuelche language ‘Kosten’ means wind and ‘Aike’ means place, succinctly describing the weather conditions in this part of southern Argentina! This cosy hotel is decorated in a traditional style with pieces of local Tehuelche art along with curtains, rugs and bedspreads inspired by the Tehuelche people. With it’s exterior wood cladding the property resembles a ski chalet from the outside and is located right in the centre of El Calafate just a few minutes walk from the main street.

Rooms are simple but perfectly comfortable and there are spacious gardens to the rear. Facilities are good including a gym with cardio machines and a spa offering a variety of treatments, a sauna, jacuzzi and Scottish shower. There is a games room with a pool table, table football and ping pong and a business centre with computer access. Ariskaiken, the main restaurant, provides a varied menu and the Kampen grill specialises in traditional BBQ’s. The Aura bar serves drinks after a day of sightseeing.
