La Casona ● Cusco ● Peru
La Casona is tucked away on one of Cuzco’s prettiest plazas, the Plaza Nazarenas, amongst cobbled streets in the historic heart of the city. Shrouded in history, the 16th century mansion is one of the oldest colonial buildings in Cuzco. Past residents include Don Juan Alvarez de Maldonado who conquered the Amazon, Simon Bolivar who helped liberate South America from Spain and other prominent Peruvian families. Now a national historic monument, the building has been lovingly restored and many of the original features preserved.
“Housed in one of Cuzco’s most historic buildings, La Casona is authentic luxury at its finest!”
The warm tones are complimented by faded original frescos, locally weaved tapestries and hand crafted artefacts. Set around an interior courtyard, each of the 11 cosy suites have their own stone fireplace and thermostat heated floors for extra comfort. La Casona was the first hotel in Peru to be recognised for its fantastic cuisine by the prestigious Relais Chateaux group. Other services include the Yacu therapy room, special cooking classes and wine tastings.
