Lapa Rios Eco Lodge β Osa Peninsular β Costa Rica
Lapa Rios is the ongoing project of John and Karen Lewis which has become a legendary and pioneering eco lodge in Costa Rica. Reached by light aircraft then a 45 minute 4Γ4 drive through the rainforest, the lodge is located within its own private rainforest reserve on the Osa Peninsular and with sweeping views of the pacific ocean and Golfo Dulce. The main building and 17 private bungalows are spread out along a ridge that requires a fairly steep walk up a lot of stairs where iguanas, sloths, monkeys and other wildlife can often be seen in the trees.
"Lapa Rios maintains its strong commitment to sustainability without sacrificing luxury! It is a unique lodge in a beautiful natural setting."
The reward at the top is unbeatable views and a cooling breeze. The thatched bungalows are built with wood and bamboo with open sides and screens to fully immerse guests in their jungle surroundings. All come with outdoor and indoor showers, tiled bathrooms, four poster beds, fantastic views and private terraces which are often visited by toucans, scarlet macaws, monkeys and other wildlife. Other facilities include direct access to three beaches, nature trails, a lovely swimming pool, gourmet cuisine created by trained chefs, a yoga deck, massages and daily guided excursions.
