Pakaritampu ● Sacred Valley ● Peru
The word Pakaritampu is derived from the indigenous Quechua language with ‘pakari’ meaning dawn and ‘tampu’ meaning home. Decorated in soothing terra-cotta colours and warmed inside by real fires, this homely hotel certainly lives up to it’s name. It is located in the small town of Ollantaytambo just a few minutes walk from the train station where you catch the train to Machu Picchu and the town centre where you will find a number of shops and restaurants.
"Pakaritampu is a reliable mid-range hotel with very well kept gardens and nice views of the mountains and the Ollantaytambo fortress."
This convenient location is combined with a lovely setting in beautifully kept grounds and gardens. From the gardens there are views to the mountains and parts of the Ollantaytambo ruins. It is a peaceful and quiet spot where llamas can often be seen wandering through the gardens. The rooms are slightly basic, but come with everything you need to feel comfortable such as private bathrooms, hot water and plenty of bedding to keep you warm! There are several comfortable indoor lounges and a nice bar and restaurant.
