Trogon Lodge is located in San Gerardo de Dota, a tiny village in the cloud forest surrounded by mountains. At 2130 metres, the higher altitude produces a cooler climate. This crisp mountain air is a refreshing break from the more humid lowlands. The main activity at Trogon Lodge is bird watching. The Resplendent Quetzal is the main draw and they can be seen here year round. Other than the Quetzal there are an additional 170 species that can be spotted in this area.

The rooms at Trogon Lodge are individual wooden cabins spread out around the beautifully kept gardens. The terrain is quite rugged so good walking shoes are required. The rooms are simple but charming and all come with hair dryers, a gas heater for the chilly nights, a shared outside porch with rocking chairs and views of the gardens. There are no TV’s to distract from the serene natural environment! The lodge also has several nature trails, a bar and restaurant and a pond where you can catch trout for dinner!
