VALPARAÍSO | CHILE

Why Visit Valparaíso?

"Colourful Valparaíso with it’s old funiculars, crumbling colonial architecture and vibrant street art is a charming city with a rich cultural heritage."

Valparaiso is Chile’s kaleidoscopic port city made up of crumbling colonial mansions, a maze of narrow streets, creaking 19th century funiculars and edgy street murals. The location is spectacular with the rising hillsides littered with multicoloured houses and picture perfect views. Home to poets, painters, philosophers, and a whole cast of characters that are as colourful as the city itself, Valparaiso has always attracted bohemian types. Perhaps their most famous resident was Pablo Neruda, the Chilean poet, whose house you can visit.

When is the Best Time to Visit Valparaíso?

Valparaíso can be visited year round, but the best time to go would be during the warmer and drier months of October to April. Peak season is December to February where it can get very busy as it is the height of the summer and many locals go on holiday. November and March are both good times for a Chile travel tour to Valparaíso as there are slightly less crowds but the weather is still good.
