Why Visit The Ecuadorian Amazon?

"A journey into the Amazon jungle, a unique eco system home to endemic species and indigenous tribes, is the ultimate South American adventure!"

Located east of the Andes and covering almost half of the country is the sprawling Ecuadorian Amazon jungle. Trips into the jungle begin from the town of Coca which is reached by a short flight from Quito. The wide Napo River, a tributary of the Amazon, flows eastwards from Coca and this is where most of Ecuador’s best jungle lodges are located. As the last true wilderness on earth the Amazon contains a startling array of exotic wildlife and new species are being discovered all the time. Many indigenous communities call this region home and run good quality eco lodges ideal for Ecuador travel tour visitors. There is also a good selection of more upmarket, luxury lodges.

When is the Best Time to Visit The Ecuadorian Amazon?

The Amazon is hot and humid year round but it does get a little cooler at night. The wetter half of the year is December until May but this does not mean it is a bad time to go. In fact, at this time of year there many plants are in bloom which attract lots of birds. It really does not matter which time of year you travel, but June until November is the slightly drier time of year.
