Bariloche is located in a beautiful setting by Lake Nahuel Huapi and surrounded by mountains in Argentina’s Lake District. The name Bariloche comes from the Mapudungun language of the Mapuche people meaning “people from behind the mountain.” Inspired by European, alpine architecture, Bariloche has become famous for its artisan chocolate which can be seen on display in the shop windows. Bariloche is a year round destination but the experience varies greatly depending on what time of year you visit. During the summer, which is from November until February, the weather is warm and there are many water based activities available. The Autumn (March – May) is a beautiful time to visit to see the colours in the trees. It’s not too hot either. The winter (June until September) brings snow and it is possible to ski here. The spring months of October and November are also a great time to go on your Argentina tours when the trees are in blossom.
