"Nestled in the foothills of the Andes surrounded by miles of beautiful countryside, Mendoza is Argentina’s premier wine growing region."
Mendoza refers to both the city and the province of Argentina located in the foothills of the Andes in the centre of the country. The province enjoys a sunny climate and has become one of the world’s premier wine growing regions. Vines were first planted in Mendoza as far back as 1551 by catholic priests. These days the region is most famous for cultivating the Malbec and torrontes grapes. There are three distinct areas in Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo, the Uco Valley and Chacras de Coria. Beyond the vineyards there is also opportunity for adventure activities such as rafting, trekking and horse riding in the surrounding countryside.
