Guanacaste province is located in Costa Rica’s north western corner and is the driest part of the country. Named after the guanacaste tree, which is the national tree of Costa Rica, the sunny province has some of the country’s best beaches and most luxurious hotels dotted along many miles of coastline. The legendary pacific swells attract keen surfers to some of the wilder parts of the coast. When is the Best Time to Visit Guanacaste in Costa Rica?

Guanacaste is one of the driest areas in Costa Rica and frequently experiences forest fires during the dry season which is from December until April. It is hot year round, but exceedingly hot during these months. May to October is the wet season where more frequent showers are common. Although slightly out of season, December and May are both good times to visit for less crowds and not too much rain.
