SARAPIQUÍ | COSTA RICA

Offering the best eco tours in Costa Rica the Sarapiquí river has long been a favourite spot for white water rafting thrill seekers. Although it is not as wild as the Pacuare river in the Central Valley, it is still fast enough to get your heart racing! The Sarapiquí area is mostly flat farmland with many rural farmhouses surrounded by dense jungle and rainforest. There are a handful of fantastic but rustic eco-tourism focussed lodges which offer an educational experience of the local flora and fauna. The La Selva biological station is a hub for tropical scientists and those who want to learn more about the local wildlife and eco-system.

Sarapiqui is located in the northern lowlands on the eastern, Caribbean side of the country. The weather here is wet year round with showers expected any time of year. It is a rainforest, after all!

December until April is the drier half of the year. May until November is generally wetter, with the exception of July where there is a temporary lull and usually more sunshine. This is known as the veranito (little summer).

September and October are the wettest months.
