Puerto Viejo is a sleepy and quirky beach town situated on the Caribbean coast in Costa Rica’s far flung south eastern corner. Expect surf shacks, bamboo bars and the sound of reggae music wafting down the dusty streets. Beaches are wild and beautiful and fringed by thick jungle where sloths hang lazily in the trees. Further along the southern Caribbean coast there is the Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, a fantastic spot for enjoying Costa Rica’s tropical nature. Bike rides are a favourite pass time in this relaxed and lesser visited region. There is also good kayaking and snorkeling for those looking for
adventure tours Costa Rica style. It is a more off the beaten path destination that is slowly becoming more popular due to some lovely new hotels recently opening. It is one of our favourite corners of the country!
